The Club World Cup is set to begin this weekend, and although there is a lot of cynicism in the air around the tournament, that could quickly turn to excitement if the first few games go well.

The group stages of any football tournament are often labelled ‘boring’, and in fairness, too often they lack stakes. That will once again be the case at the Club World Cup, but one way to make them more interesting is to back certain teams to win all three of their matches.

Is there any betting value on that at the Club World Cup? Let’s take a look.

Group A

On paper, Group A is one of the tightest groups at the Club World Cup, due to the fact that there is only one European team in it and that team is FC Porto. Not taking anything away from Porto, but they aren’t truly among Europe’s elite, and they finished closer to Braga in fourth than they did Sporting Lisbon in first in the Primeira Liga this season.

Joining Porto are Brazilian side Palmeiras, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, and Egyptian outfit Al Ahly. The latter are expected to struggle with the other three sides battling it out for two spots. Do Porto have enough quality to beat both Palmeiras and Inter Miami? I’m not convinced.

Projected odds of Porto winning all three group matches: 6/1

Group B

Group B looks like it will be a shootout between the new European champions, PSG, and Atletico Madrid. The other two teams in the group shouldn’t pose too much of a threat to the European sides.

Botafogo may well be the reigning Copa Libertadores champions, but they have struggled so far in 2025 and are languishing in sixth place in the Brazilian Serie A. Seattle, meanwhile, are also sitting in sixth position in Major League Soccer (MLS).

While PSG will fancy their chances of overcoming Atletico, you can never rule out a Diego Simeone team. Also, it would be negligent to rule out Botafogo getting something against either of the European sides, given how well they did last season. Therefore, there isn’t much value on a perfect group stage bet here.

Projected odds of PSG winning all three group matches: 3/1

Group C

Group C is a far more straightforward than the previous two in that Bayern Munich are the huge favourites to come out of it as group winners. Vincent Kompany’s side are joined by Benfica, Boca Juniors and Auckland City.

Bayern are priced at as little as 1/200 to defeat Auckland on matchday one, in the type of match that has left people feeling uninspired by the tournament. Boca Juniors could give them a game, but they finished a rather lowly sixth in the Argentine Primera Division last season. Benfica, meanwhile, have lost their last five matches against Bayern Munich.

Therefore, there is plenty of value in backing Bayern to come out on top in all three of their group matches.

Projected odds of Bayern winning all three group matches: 6/4

Group D

Looking at Group D, Chelsea may well be the best-placed team in the tournament to go three out of three in the group stages, as they have been given a group without any other European teams.

Joining the Blues in this group are Tunisian side, ES Tunis, Flamengo and Leon. ES Tunis haven’t won the CAF Champions League in six years, while Flamengo and Leon haven’t won their respective domestic leagues since 2020.

Projected odds of Chelsea winning all three group matches: 7/4

Group E

Inter Milan will be the favourites to win Group E, but after losing the Champions League final 5-0 and then their manager shortly after, this could be a tournament that has come at the wrong time for them.

We’d recommend erring on the side of caution when it comes to Inter at this tournament, and Argentinian giants, River Plate, will fancy their chances of getting something off them in Group E.

The other teams in Group E, Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds, aren’t expected to challenge.

Projected odds of Inter Milan winning all three group matches: 5/2

Group F

Contrastingly to Inter Milan, the CWC has perhaps could have come at the perfect time for Borussia Dortmund. The German side won their last five matches of the season to finish inside the top four in the Bundesliga, so they are riding a wave of momentum coming into the Club World Cup.

They have also been helped by a friendly group. Fluminense haven’t won the Brazilian league since 2012, and they finished 13th last season, while the other two teams, Mamelodi Sundowns and Ulsan, shouldn’t be able to compete with a top European side.

Borussia Dortmund to complete the perfect group stage could be a brilliant bet.

Projected odds of Borussia Dortmund winning all three group matches: 9/4

Group G

Group G should be a shootout between Juventus and Man City for top spot, and given that the two clubs face each other on matchday three, this makes for quite an interesting group.

No disrespect intended towards Wydad or Al Ain, but there’s a reason they are priced at 50/1 and 25/1 respectively to come out of the group.

Assuming the two European side win their opening two matches, we could have a scenario where Man City’s fringe players take on Juventus’. City have greater depth than their Italian rivals, so there could be some value in a perfect Man City group stage.

Projected odds of Man City winning all three group matches: 7/4

Group H

All eyes are on Real Madrid in Group H, and seeing them in action for the first time with Xabi Alonso in charge should be fascinating.

What formation will he play? How will he fit Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr together? Where will Trent Alexander-Arnold play? These are all questions we want the answers to.

For today, though, can they win all three group games? Yes, I think they can and should, given that their toughest opponents will be the Saudi side, Al-Hilal.

Projected odds of Real Madrid winning all three group matches: 1/1 (evens)

Suggested group stage multi-match bet builder

  • Bayern Munich to beat Auckland City (-4 handicap)
  • PSG to beat Atletico Madrid
  • PSG v ATL: Both teams to score – Yes
  • Goncalo Ramos to score anytime
  • Real Madrid to beat Al-Hilal
  • Aleksandar Mitrovic to score anytime

This pays out at approximately 50/1 across all major bookmakers.
